Welcome

Welcome families to the Koss Cochlear Implant team's blog. This blog has been created to help you navigate through the information available on the Web. We have created links for you about IEP's, troubleshooting your implant, educational choices and more.
The reason we chose a blog format is to provide opportunities for networking with other families as well as with our professionals on the implant team. We encourage you to ask questions on the blog for others to read and to answer.
We will update the blog weekly to post questions and answers.

Cochlear Implants and Children with Additional Special Needs

HOPE On-line Cochlear Americas

Presenters: Holly Whalen, Au.D., CCC-A & Melissa H. Sweeney, M.S., CCC/SLP, LSLS, Cert. AVT, University of Texas Dallas, Callier Center, Dallas Cochlear Implant Program

This presentation was very informative for the educator working with children with CI's and additional special needs. They included the process of determining candidacy for these children at their local hospital, and the necessary conversation they have with parents on expectations for these children. They also included therapy strategies and additional resources they use to assist them in following the developmental processes for speech, language and auditory skills.
